As stated in the previous post, I will be using the Zoom platform to conduct daily lessons. Here are some ground rules for the kids:
Live video lessons will be delivered using the Zoom platform. There are no accounts or logins required. Students do not need cameras or mics. The only thing they will need is a screen with headphones or a speaker so they can see and hear the lesson. Here is what you need to know about these lessons:
If your child cannot view the lessons, I will try to capture a video. All lessons are located on the Daily Work tab in the top, right hand corner of this page. Please do not hesitate to ask questions! CHOPPED Words: spring, Taco Bell, and dinosaur--due March 20--Stories must be at least 1/2 page. Stories less than 1/2 page will not be accepted.
Curriculum Announcement: I am restructuring the curriculum this quarter to better fit instructional needs. The first four weeks of the quarter will be completely dedicated to ELA. This means, there will be no social studies assignments given in class. However, students will continue to receive a weekly social studies reading homework assignment from their workbook. This will be graded for completion (not accuracy). The purpose of these weekly assignments is to continue to expose students to new information and have them work through "cold reads" (new information not presented beforehand). This will also allow students to receive a weekly homework/participation grade in social studies. After TNReady, we will focus solely on social studies. The students are excited about this! All of my social studies lessons are grounded in ELA. Therefore, it is a win-win setup. The rationale behind this structure is that there is no TNReady for social studies. Thus, we do not need to focus on social studies information before testing. This will give us much more time in class to focus on ELA which, of course, is heavily tested. Dear Parents,
Due to changes in our district assessment schedule, we will not have an opportunity to assemble projects in class. Almost all of next week is now being allocated to complete required testing. Fortunately, I have been able to keep our Hero Showcase date. Here is the updated information for everything.
If you have any questions about this, let me know. I apologize for any convenience, but I am so grateful we can still have this event for our children. Thank you for your support and help!
